2010 SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENTS

(Individual Grade and Level Assignments are Found in the Links Below)

GOALS OF SUMMER READING:

It is during the summer months that all Nativity students begin the yearlong process of furthering themselves as both critical readers and writers.

The program has been designed to promote student responsibility in academics by making achievable goals that can only be reached through honest and conscientious effort during this “unmanaged” time of the year.

If approached properly, the benefits of the summer reading program are immense and represent the first major step towards high achievement both during the 2010-11 school year and beyond, as we prepare students for the postsecondary level, where serious academic reading is a must.

EXPECTATIONS FOR SUMMER READING:

ALL ASSIGNMENTS AND BOOKS ARE DUE IN CLASS ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL (AUGUST 31, 2010). THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY.

Work in the Summer Journals must be neatly kept and organized according to the specifications below. All submitted work must be your own. If it is determined that any part of the summer work was plagiarized, the assignment will be automatically marked zero and additional disciplinary consequences will be imposed. This also goes for the sharing of work between students. If two or more journals contain an inordinate amount of similar responses, the same rules will apply. In short, DO YOUR OWN WORK. Doing otherwise will get you nowhere.

ALL WORKS ARE READILY AVAILABLE IN PUBLIC LIBRARIES, BOOKSTORES, AND ONLINE.
